Design Philosophy
Design Philosophy

BGMG's design philosophy is greatly influenced by legendary golf course designer of 20th century Dr. Alister Mackenzie, a conservative designer who mastered the art of retaining nature and safeguard environment. He globe-trotted the world to design some outstanding golf courses such as Augusta National, Cypress Point, Royal Melbourne, Lahinch, Kingston Heath, Crystal Downs, Jockey Club, Royal Adelaide, Titirangi and New South Wales.

BGMG principally strives to design affordable golf courses of International Standards that are pleasing in appeal, challenging and intelligent to play so that golf reaches the masses. Our designs also ensure that subsequent maintenance costs are affordable and easy.

BGMG adheres to traditional architecture that is admired and appreciated universally and is typified by the old links style of St. Andrews and also other classic venues of golf courses in the hills & mountains, flat wet or arid land, rugged mine areas. We believe such land, showing little evidence of the hand of man, represents the true standards by which fine golf courses are measured and we have adopted the principles learned from these courses in all our efforts.

Respect for the game of golf, the environment and nature are the key components of our design philosophy. Our extensive design process aims to generate an inspiring yet practical resolution to design issues. BGMG has as associate professionals with experience and insight into the particular golf course for championship play, resorts, townships and residential development.

Retaining nature would mean that just as no two places have the same topography so too there can be no two golf courses with the same design. Therefore, variety, challenge, dynamism, and unique character that attract repeat play make for the design philosophy of our golf courses.

The fundamentals of our design work are:

Respect for nature, the environment, water resources and the local culture
Designs conform to the natural life of the land
Awareness of environmental responsibility of golf course designers
Make the best use of available water

Water and irrigation is the lifeline for the golf courses, we are sensitive to water being precious that is running the risk of scarcity. Our responsive and responsible designs actively use waste/ effluent water and we evaluate its impact carefully. Our golf courses are designed to be turfed, landscaped and irrigated for use of fresh as well as grey waters.
